I guess I can really only speak for myself, but I'd much rather be slightly inconvenienced than leave room for some asshat to mess up the server. I'd say it might be a good idea to implement some sort of linear progression system that shows us some different maps and different content to unlock our skills (exception given to the final 1-3 that should be a challenge to get - unsure what version this will be) and then beyond that I wouldn't really favor it.Īs far as the encryption stuff I'm not a tech guy, but I will say if you can simply provide players with some clear instructions to whitelist whatever files we need to it should be fine. I didn't mind it until towards the end when it became extremely tedious, so much so that my reaction to being banned was just to laugh. I actually played origin quite a bit, was close to getting the final skill (91 I think it was?) before getting banned lol. ![]() I do not want to release a dissapointment. I will still keep working on it, but when I feel comfortable opening it up for public is unknown. A lot of issues popped up that will need a work around and also I don't want to force myself to work on it. update2- Progress will be slowed even more.ĭue to me underestimating how much time I have to sink into this project I can't make this playable anytime soon. So the progress is slow for the most part. Please keep in mind that we are doing this off of our free time, It's just two of us where I teach my friend to do what needs to be done. *removed discord link for the time being* update -Since we decided to pick the project back up here is a discord link for those who wan't to keep an active eye on the progress or just throw us ideas/suggestions. So far it kind of feels like it's not worth the time. If there is enough intrest I will pick the project up and finish it. Lower level instances also come in 4 flavors, one for each race and one where all races can fight for mobs, higher level ones are full pvp. to remove the tedious "grind the best map/spot" mentality. All pets are cosmetic and don't have the insane options, only the ones you can apply yourself.Ĭustom dungeon scripts, timed boss instances etc. My plan was to only have cosmetics, prem card, hour glasses, and pets in market to pay for the server costs/buy new updates. As we all know darkeden in core is built with p2w model. It's custom made version, has a lot of new stuff from korean version. The playerbase/population may not be high, but it's one of the few horror MMO games out there.I have been working on a project for a few years now on and off. the developers are still pushing out new servers. ![]() There may be a new servers, but it's a very old game yet it is still going strong.Īs such, If you plan to invest time and money into it, it's not likely to go away anytime soon. Odds are that you already know, but it's a retro game that's long been around & refined for more than 10 years. Every mob (Even those of the same type) all had different and random names. Such as a zombie named Kevin, or Smithpj. it was more like names that make no sense. They weren't linear like "Widow" or "Iron Teeth". The mobs used to have randomly generated names. Even the "Concept" of ousters wasn't part of the game. There seemed to be ALOT more abilities available as compared to the Origin server. There was a Bat and Wolf transformation (Again, don't know if that's still a thing) They either weren't implemented or part of the game at that point. I had to chug health injections (Health injections had no cooldown)īack then pets weren't a thing. I remember my first character was a Slayer, and i walked outside of the major city, the mobs currently known as "Iron Teeth" used to chunk my health on every hit. So you had to go find another grinding spot on another map. The Mobs outside of the major city starting zone would wreck your life at low levels. (Don't know if that's still a thing, but on the new Origin server I haven't seen any). There used to be "Red" versions of mobs on the map that were super powered versions of their regular counterparts. They gave you two avatar icons to choose for your character profile. ![]() There wasn't even a character customization screen. (Or at least the ability icons looked different.) The UI looked entirely different than they do now. ![]() I used to play it on an old Windows NT Laptop. There were speedhackers everywhere, the servers would disconnect every 5 seconds. It wasn't available officially in NA at that time.) (It was either the first NA Alpha/beta for Dark Eden, or it could have been the first private NA server copied from the Korean/Asian release. I remember playing this game back when it had just released.
